The Pixelmon team is excited to welcome another veteran from the world of game design. With over 26 years of experience across 14 studios, Pascal Luban will be joining LiquidX as its Lead Game Designer. Pascal will take charge of the creative direction and game design, advising the management team while leading and coaching the design team throughout the development of the Pixelmon Game.

Having received the ‘Best in Gaming Award’ at the 2009 Digital Media Awards for his work on The One Hope™, a turn-based action-adventure title, Pascal has a unique perspective on gaming, having developed both AAA console and mobile freemium games. He has practical experience in a multitude of game aspects, ranging from game mechanics, UX design, and economic design to narrative integration, playtesting, and tuning.

In particular he was Lead Level Designer on the "versus" multiplayer versions of both Splinter Cell - Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory, Creative Director on Wanted – Weapons of Fate and lead game designer on Fighters Uncaged, the first combat game on Kinect. The first triple-A title he worked on as game designer was Alone In The Dark - The New Nightmare.

Pascal is noted for his pioneering approach to Free-to-Play game design, having devised his own five-step development process. Anchored around engagement, retention, and monetisation, this process encompasses every aspect of game creation from its open-loop model to item catalogue. A regular contributor to Game Developer (formerly Gamasutra), Pascal is passionate about knowledge transfer, having shared his take on everything from open world level design to industry trends. Pascal also writes about the future of gaming on his blog.

Pascal is currently based in Colombes, a commune in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, France, where he resides with his wife Veronique and their two children, Caroline and Alexandre. Aside from gaming, he enjoys hiking, travelling and writing.
